Mens July Match Summary
ESL League
We continue to be second in the league at the end of July but following the game last weekend we may have dropped to third. July saw wins against Caterham and Epsom (a very close game) but Shirley Park one of the main challengers for promotion taking all points from us.
We have two games remaining, both at home and need to take maximum points if we are to regain the second spot.
Guildford Triples
Unfortunately the Guildford league has not faired well. We managed 4 points (out of 6) in a 10 end rain-shortened game at Merrow. Another single point was earned against league leaders Godalming for a drawn rink, but we lost all points against Bookham and Woodbridge Hill, which leaves us bottom of this league.
Border League
The Border League teams have had a super successful month winning all 5 games played. Congratulations to all members of those teams. We took 10 points at Newdigate and Horsham Park plus a very creditable 8 points against Redhill and Reigate Priory and a very important 8 points against Old Coulsdon on1st August. This may be the first time Dorking have beaten Old Coulsdon both home and away in the same season. We are now in first place in the league with 1 match left to play away against Redhill on 8th August. A win will secure the league and league promotion - all to play for.
We had a narrow loss to Old Coulsdon in round 2 of the Border League cup - it came down to a measure on the last end for the away team, to take it to an extra end - but we were just short. Well done to those that braved the pouring rain to play this game and then an ESL game on the same day.
NSL League
Played 4 matches this season. Unfortunately, we've seen a steady decline in fortunes obtaining 10, 7, 2 and 0 points. At the beginning of July we drew our first match with Sutton but won having gained the most shots overall hence 7 points. The subsequent two matches were lost but our final game in July was against probably the very best team in the league against West Wimbledon. No doubt we will reverse the trend for the rest of the season.
