Presidents Day - Closing Drive
What a lovely day to finish the season - the weather was good, the banter was great, the food was fantastic, the wine was free - oh yes and we played some bowls and that was ok too .
This was the annual President versus Vice Presidents match which traditionally closes the season. There was such demand for places, that we needed all 7 rinks.
We started with a group photo to celebrate our 110th anniversary - this was a bit like herding cats to get everyone into position, but we eventually got there - some in the ditch, some on the benches and lots hiding at the back standing.
Then onto the games. The teams had been selected to spread experience and capability across both Presidents and Vice Presidents squads. Some lovely bowls actions were seen. Overall it was close with a 115 - 111 win for the Presidents squad - but there were a few individual matches not so close.
Then back into the clubhouse for some food and drink. It was a 'bring and share' buffet that had plenty for all - a nice selection of savoury and sweet with a nice wine provided by the Club. Big queues formed to see what was on offer as the choice was extensive.
Sonia accepted the Trophy on behalf of our President. Thanks were given to all who participated and the volunteers who had helped organise this great event.
We then sat and chatted for some time - people not wanting to go home as this was the last bowls event of the season ........... but we have got the social Friday nights coming up to see us through the winter until we meet again.
Some photos from the day ....
