Club Facilities
Dorking Bowling Club is a private members club situated just to the west of Dorking Town Centre on the A25 and in the heart of the Surrey Hills area of outstanding beauty. We are in a pleasant secluded residential spot with trees and shrubbery all around. We have been on the same private site since 1912 and have a well-established 6 rink full size green, large clubhouse and free parking.
The green and surrounding ground has a dedicated maintenance team who keep the surfaces in peak condition. We play East-West during the day and North-South in the evenings to ensure even wear. There is more information about maintenance in Green Corner.
The clubhouse is the centre for all activities – now with wifi. There is seating along the edge of the green so spectators can get close to the action. The south side of the clubhouse is all windows, so a good view of the games can be had with a pint in hand. The large Bar is always well stocked including snacks and open when matches and social events are taking place. Bar prices are significantly lower than local establishments, so many people stay for the evening after matches – the clubhouse is a very sociable place.
We hold social events throughout the year in the entertainment area. We could squeeze in almost 100 but it tends to be a more comfortable 50 – 70. In the winter this would include quizzes, bingo, boccia, and skittles on Fridays (sometimes with a fish supper) and not forgetting Wednesday cards and darts sessions. In summer during the outdoor season, there are BBQs, sausage sizzle nights and buffets all supplied from our fully equipped kitchen.
We are fortunate to have two large changing rooms with lockers for members with additional outdoor changing rooms for the use of visiting teams. We have free car parking to the rear of the clubhouse with additional overflow spaces nearby via a free permit scheme.
