2025 Opening Drive
We're back on the Green !! It seems like a long winter but finally we are outside again and its been some lovely drying weather for over a week until ..... 2.30 and the start of the Opening Drive. But it was only showers and didn't dampen our spirits.
We had started with Cheese/Pate and Wine (thank you to Pat and Trevor for organising) and a chance for us all to catch up on our news. Then it was out for the ever popular Spider - won by Martin. The £1 entry amassed £45 for the captai's charity. The 14 triple teams had been picked in advance - quite fairly judging by the even scores are the end. With all 7 Rinks occupied, it was quite busy on The Green but not too many bowls straying. The winning team was Pat Thomas, Richard Sawle and Chrissie Ferreroli who were presented with the smallest trophy i've ever seen and a free drink from the bar. Thanks to all the bar staff and the members who got the bowls equipment ready and of course the Green team who managed to get the Green looking so wonderful.
So a great start to the season and looking forward to many more bowls events.
