2025 Season - week 7 results

It was another busy week of bowling and what a good week it turned out to be !
- The old codgers started well with a clean sweep in the GTL against Bookham that puts us third in the league.
- The first game in the New Surrey League season followed with a good overall win away at Supreme. Thanks to the two ladies, Carmel and Patricia T., that made the trip and helped to seal the win, as not enough men signed up.
- This was followed by a solid three rink win in the first Border League game against local rivals Newdigate. All 10 points is a great start, especially as a number of potential players were away in their Surrey pairs matches - just showing the depth of good bowlers in the Club.
- Sadly, the ladies couldn't keep the wins going, with a loss away at Byfleet in the SurreyAd.
- The last league game of the week was a cracker at home against Bletchingley. The ladies won their rain shortened friendly and the men took all 3 rinks and 10 points to maintain their 2nd place position in the league. The rink scores of 19-18, 19-18, and 19-16 show just how close the match was. Added to the fun was the pouring rain that started about half-way through and the rink was flooding by the time the last bowl skidded through the deepening puddles to claim shot and the rink on the last end. Well done to all on the team and thanks to all the spectators that urged us on.
- Two good wins as well this week for Club members in the Surrey Pairs. Well done to Mike and Nick and to Peter R. and Richard W. who are through to the next round. Good luck in your away matches this coming Thursday.
- Sunday completed the week in great fashion with the internal 2-woods competition, a barbecue managed by Mike and Wendy and no rain! Some excellent matches saw Nick and Trevor T. come through to compete on Finals weekend. More details in a separate news event.
