2026 Season - Week 6 Results
Excessive heat at the start of the week meant that the 'old codgers' match against Woodbridge Hill was postponed.
This was followed on Tuesday evening by a super win in the ESL Top 11 away at Purley Bury. Congratulations to all that played, but especially Richard Woodman winning the 2-woods, Chris Morris, Mike Vergien and John Stenton the triples, and Martin Saull, Peter Revell, Paul Crozier, and Paul McAllister the fours. This sets up a home match against Bletchingley to be played in the next three weeks - date tbd.
Wednesday brought Banstead Neville to town for a NDL match. A win on one rink was sufficient to secure an overall draw and 4 points to us. This leaves us solidly in mid-table position 7.
Thursday was our first NSL match of the season against Supreme - and it was an excellent start with solid wins on two rinks and an overall win securing 8 points.
Unfortunately the Ladies friendly was cancelled as Ewhurst could not raise a team and the same happened on Saturday when the Wallington ladies did not arrive- allowing the two Dorking teams to play a friendly against each other.
On Friday the ladies SurreyAd team had a tough morning at Bookham but also in the chart this week, to cheer them up, the very good win against Leatherhead is included as it was missed out of last weeks chart.
On Saturday, the men recorded their first ESL win of the season playing at home against a good Wallington side. so well done all. A win on two rinks and an overall win gave us 8 points.
The Surrey's continued to be active with excellent wins for Peter Revell, Mike Vergien, and Andrea Florio in the unbadged singles, who progress to round 3. Andrea's win sets up a home match with Al Hislop, who won previously - guaranteeing a Dorking member in round 4. Commiserations go to Wendy Vergien in the Ladies C-of-C and to Nick Roos, John Stenton, and Richard Woodman in the unbadged singles. Apologies if I have missed anyone.
