2026 Season - Week 8 Results

The weather started to clear this week but on the green we were inconsistent with some good rink wins but overall coming up short.

The 'old codgers' played Burpham, winning on one rink but a loss overall, leaving us just hanging on the 2nd in the league. The NDL match at Ashtead was again an overall loss with one good winning rink, leaving us just in 9th place. This pattern continued in the Border League vs Felbridge, with one very close 10-9 win on one rink but an overall loss, leaving 5th out of 6.

The Ladies had a close loss 10-11 in the SurreyAd against Bookham, losing on the last end by a centimeter.

On Saturday, the Men away at Sutton managed a draw on one rink but lost heavily on the other two, leaving us 8th in the league out of 9. The Ladies, in their friendly, fared much better with a win on both rinks.

On Sunday the quarter-finals of the ESL Top 11 were played against Bletchingley. Nick Roos had a commanding win in the singles but unfortunately that was the only winning game as we lost 1 to 4.

The bright note for the week was the Dorking Mixed Pairs teams in the Surreys, with 4 teams through to the next round: Carmel & John Stenton, Wendy & Mike Vergien, Mary Mitchell & Richard Woodman, and Patricia & Trevor Thomas (these last two pairs must now play each other in Round 2). Also going well into round 4 of the Unbadged Singles are Al Hislop and Mike Vergien. In the Men's Pairs Al Hislop and Chris Morris (subbing for Alan Wall) came through an 'all-Dorking' match and now must play Graham Baker and Dan Cooke in another 'all Dorking' round 3 match.
