2024 Candlelit Bowls
After some rain in the morning, we were lucky to still be able to play our fun night time bowls. This year we even had battery operated lights to mark the edges !!!
We had four rinks of triples playing for the honour of candlelit champions - but first we had some lovely pasta bake dishes served up (thank you once again Marian and Pat). With a full warm stomach, we ventured out and with a variety of torches (some definitely could have done with new batteries) - we managed to get 10 ends in without too many bowls straying across to other rinks or hitting the team at the other end. There were in fact some very good shots made - much to everyone's amazement. As the night progressed - so did the dew in the grass and the bowls were sopping at the end.
Then back to the clubhouse to announce the winners (£3 each) and losers (choc bar). Another good selection of raffle prizes - although noboby seemed to want to win the scented candle.
Thanks to everyone who helped run the event - another good social evening for Dorking Bowls.
