2024 Dinner Dance

Well, what a night!!! It looked like everyone had a very good time, with a great turnout of 63.
We started the evening with drinks in the bar and guests bought their raffle tickets in the hope that they would win one of the many fabulous prizes that Santa's helpers were able to obtain from local companies (see list below) or one of the many lovely gifts that Club members provided. We had a large variety and plenty of gifts donated (from restaurant/tour vouchers to wine/plants/toiletries) - so well done everyone who contributed! The Captains Charity benefited from the generousity of raffle monies collected.
We were called into dinner at 7.30 and what a lovely room we found. Short speech by Marian Jefferson just to say how the evening was going to run and to thank all the many people who had made the evening happen; Graham for the disco, guests for their gifts, Eric for doing the raffle and for the team of helpers (Steve, Pauline & Roland, Pat & Ted).
Then, a wonderful buffet array of starters, main course from the carvery; roast beef, turkey and pork with plenty of veg and enormous yorkshire puds followed.... delicious! The desserts completed the meal beautifully. Wine flowed and then, whilst coffee and mints were served by Rob and his fabulous staff of Betchworth Golf Club, we kicked off the raffle with our new President, Barbara Skilton who, firstly gave a short speech and then pulled out the very first of many raffle tickets. We even managed to complete the food and raffle in two hours!!
So plenty of time for dancing with guests mixing, having fun, lots of laughter for the rest of the night. It was sad when it all had to come to an end at 11.30.
Hopefully everyone got home safely and not blown about too much. The team would like to thank everyone for braving Darragh, thank goodness it didn't interfere with our special night.
Merry Christmas to all and a very happy new year.
