2026 Presidents Closing Drive
The annual President versus Vice-President closing drive was played in lovely September sunshine. The event started with a spider with the usual spread of bowls .... Then onto the main event. All 7 rinks were used for triples with a few last minute substitutions - but the teams were fairly even. It was a great last afternoon of bowling and hard to think that we now have to wait 6 months until the Green opens again. The final score was 110 Presidents [Barbara] and 118 [David] ..... only fair as Barabra's team won last year.
Then back into the Clubhouse for the 'bring-a-plate' buffet which was generous as usual. Also generous was the wine provided by Barbara and David - thank you very much. Many stayed for more evening drinks as it was going to be some months before we meet again. Thanks to all who organised and also thanks to those that stayed behind to tidy up the Clubhouse - inside this week and outside next week.
Its been a lovely season and a great atmosphere - we won some and lost some - but in the end it was fun and good companionship.
