Captains Charity Match

After guidance from Vicky and on the count of three, all bowled and James Washer won the 'Spider'.

Seven sets of triples followed. Vicky's team won (Vicky, Rory and Zoe) and the lowest score was by her team's opponents. After other close fought but friendly matches all retired to the Clubhouse at 5pm for refreshments and hot meals - lasagne or veggie options with plenty of salad, garlic bread etc., followed by lemon cheesecake, or an indulgent choccy version, topped with strawberries & cream.

James of the Children's Trust then gave his fascinating talk on how the Tadworth centre, the largest of its kind in the UK, takes on children with brain injury who were physically fit to leave hospital but needed a wide range of special needs. These include neurodisability and complex education needs, health and re-habilitation therapy and psychology to restore lost skills or develop new ways of doing things - whilst all the time supporting the family with their child's newly acquired disability, transition home and plan for the future. They aim to re-build a child's confidence with play, music, singing, arts and crafts, day trips and other activities, so children do not focus on what they cannot do, they just do it and have fun.

Peter R, with help from Zoe who works at the Trust, gave a vote of thanks on our behalf and we felt proud that DBC, including a donation from our President, Dave Morley, raised approx. £500 to support the Children's Trust in its many vital tasks.
